Sending Mail

Sending email via the relay.pair.com servers can be tricky. Some ISP's (Internet Service Providers) will not allow it. The other rule is that you must have checked your email within the last 45 minutes in order to send mail.

Some of the ISP's that will not allow you to use relay.pair.com are: Earthlink and SBC.

Below are some links and info to help you configure your servers if you use SBC:

For example, if a client's SBC DSL email address ends with "sbcglobal.net", then they enter "smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com" for outgoing mail instead of the relay info.

and here are the instructions for setting it up with Outlook:

So the User Name field will be the SBC DSL email address and the password that was used to set up their DSL account, which is going to be different from the User Name field in their incoming mail setup. And checking that "Save password" box is important :)

The SBC DSL support site has a list of smtp addresses to use for outgoing servers, depending upon the subscriber account (sbcglobal.net, etc). That is the address to use for the outgoing mail setup in Outlook. Here's the confusing part - you need to use your SBC member ID & password for the outgoing mail prompt (not your web site email user name & pw), and check the "save password" box (or you will have to log in every time you send an email).
